This is the blog of James Cooper, a web designer/developer from the UK.
I also run the biggest Christmas information site on the web www.whychristmas.com and I'm thechristmas.expert (yes really).
I don't blog much, but wanted a little place to put my thoughts. I didn't want to go on Substack or something like that. And it doesn't warrant anything like a WordPress install (although I also know WordPress backwards) and I'm also a geek, who loves HTML, so this is a little hand coded html/css site. I'm hosting the site for free on Cloudflare Pages.
Some posts on this blog have been on other blogs/sites of mine, but I've moved them here!
Why 572101.xyz ?
There are two parts...
.xyz is a new-ish domain. You can often get a good domain name with .xyz as not many people know about them. They also do something REALLY cool. They have what they call the 1.111B Class of .xyz domains, which is made up of 1.111 billion possible 6-digit, 7-digit, 8-digit, and 9-digit numbers, between 000000.xyz and 999999999.xyz - and they're only 99¢(USD) per year, every year!
As for the number, well I'll leave it as a puzzle for you. But here's a big hint. Look at my X/Twitter username in the footer and then the numbers on your phone and you should be able to work it out!
That means that, as I'm hosting the site for free and have a cheapo domain, this site is costing me the grant total of 99¢!
What's with the Orange and Purple?
Again, there's two parts. One, they're my favourite colours; and two, GO TIGERS!
